What is a UTM link?
A URL with labels for its source, medium and campaign. Compatible analytics on the destination can use those labels to group visits.
Can I decode an existing link?
Paste it into the website URL field. Existing UTM values load for editing. Decoding does not retrieve traffic history.
Does this track clicks or sales?
No. This generator adds labels. Relay tracking links let you monitor clicks. Sales and commissions need separate conversion data; a click does not prove a purchase.
What goes in each field?
For an Instagram outfit campaign: source “instagram”, medium “social”, campaign “summer-edit”, content “story-slide-1”. For a newsletter, keep the campaign and change source to “newsletter” and medium to “email”.
Can I put personal details in tags?
Don’t include names, emails or other personal information. Anyone with the link can read its tags.
